Summary: Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (translation: Save the daughter, educate the daughter) is a campaign of the Government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India.
The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme was launched on 22 January 2015 by PM Narendra Modi. It aims to address the issue of the declining child sex ratio image (CSR) and is a national initiative jointly run by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Objectives
The objectives of this initiative are:
- Prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination
- Ensuring survival & protection of the girl child
- Ensuring education and participation of the girl child
Target group
- Primary : Young and newly married couples; Pregnant and Lactating mothers; parents
- Secondary : Youth, adolescents (girls and boys), in-laws, medical doctors/ practitioners, private hospitals, nursing homes and diagnostic centres
- Tertiary : Officials, PRIs; frontline workers, women SHGs/Collectives, religious leaders, voluntary organizations, media, medical associations, industry associations, general public as a whole .

Step 1- Visit the Official Website Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana – Ministry of Women and Child Development i.e. https://wcd.nic.in/.

In order to be eligible for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, following conditions are to be fulfilled:
- A family with a girl child below the age of 10 years
- There should be a Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA) in any bank, opened in the name of the girl child
- The Girl child should be an Indian. NRIs are not eligible for this scheme

- On depositing Rs 1000 every month in daughter’s bank account
Under BBBP Yojana 2020 , if you deposit a sum of Rs 1000 or Rs 12000 per month in your daughter’s bank account, then you will deposit a total amount of Rs 1, 68 000 in 14 years. After the bank account matures after 21 years, your daughter will be provided an amount of Rs 6, 07, 128.
- On depositing Rs. 1.5 lakhs per annum in a bank account
Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme 2020 , if you deposit Rs. 1.5 lakhs per year in your daughter’s bank account, you will have to deposit a total of Rs. 21 lakhs in your daughter’s account for 14 years. 72 lakh rupees will be provided to your daughter after the maturity of the account.

- The key elements of the scheme include Enforcement of PC & PNDT Act, nation-wide awareness and advocacy campaign and multi-sectoral action in select 100 districts (low on CSR) in the first phase. There is a strong emphasis on mindset change through training, sensitization, awareness raising and community mobilization on ground.
