The e-challan notice is sent to you through SMS on your mobile phone. You may also get the notice in physical format at your registered address. If you delete the SMS by mistake or you do not receive the notice at your registered address, you can still check your challan status online and pay it accordingly.

New traffic Rules/ Motor Vehicle Act

Driving offence prior to September 2019, you will receive a notice under the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act, 1988. In such a case, you need to pay penalty for driving offence according to the penalty amount applicable prior to September 2019, as per the MV Act 1988. However, if you get a notice for any offence made on or after September 1, 2019, then you will have to pay penalties as per the MV Act 2019 regulations.

According to the MV Act 2019, the penalties for violating traffic rules have increased. So, substantially paying driving offence penalties will have a huge impact on your monthly budget.

What is e-challan?

e-Challan is a sophisticated software application comprising Android based mobile app and web interface, developed for the purpose of providing an comprehensive solution for Transport Enforcement Officers and Traffic Policemen. This app-cumapplication is integrated with Vahan and Sarathi applications and provides a number of user-friendly features while covering all major functionalities of Traffic Enforcement System.

This is an end to end automated system with digital interface for all the stakeholders in purview of challan eco-system. The application offers customized interfaces for the following stakeholders:

‣ Enforcement officers
‣ Citizens (private or commercial car owners/drivers)
‣ State transport office
‣ Regional transport/Traffic office
‣ NIC admin
‣ Ministry of Road and Transport

Step to Check Traffic E-Challan Status Online

Step 1: Go to the official website i.e. echallan.parivahan.gov.in.

Step 2: The official webpage will open.

Step 3: to check your E-Challan status look for the option Check Challan Status’ on the right side.

Step 4: Click on the Check Challan Status’.

Step 5: You will be re-directed to a page.

Step 6: Now put the required details and you can check you Challan status from there.

Pay Parivahan E Challan Online

Method 1

Follow these steps to pay your e- challan online
Step 1: Visit the Digital Traffic/Transport Enforcement Solution website i.e. https://ift.tt/2MhAHsz. After that, click on ‘Check Challan Status’ tab to proceed further.

Step 2: By entering either the challan number, vehicle number or Driving Licence (DL) number you can check the status of your challan. Enter the details of the option you have selected (as shown below), along with the captcha and then, click on ‘GET DETAILS’.

Step 3: The row(s) for challan status details will reflect below the same screen once you have clicked on the ‘Get Details’ tab after one of the details asked for. The row will remain blank if no challan is found. You can also track the total number of challans filed against you.

Step 4: If you have made any offence, the challans will start reflecting in the challan status row. Here, you can start making the online payments. In such a case, under the ‘Payment option,’ you will have to click on ‘Pay Now’ to proceed further.

Step 5: Select the mode of payment – credit card/debit card or Net-banking. If you have chosen Net-banking, select the bank you want to make payment from. Once you have made the payment towards e-challan, you will receive a ‘Payment Successful’ message along with the transaction ID. Do not forget to make a note of the transaction ID for future reference.

Pay your e-challan online Through Paytm

Step 1: Download and instal the Paytm app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Register and ensure you complete the Paytm KYC procedure to avail services through the Paytm platform.

Step 3: Once the app is installed, open the app.

Step 4: On the main page, select “More”.

Step 5: On the new page, under “City Services”, select “Challan”.

Step 6: Choose your traffic authority.

Step 7: Enter the e-challan number, vehicle number, registration certificate number, driving licence, etc.

Step 8: Select “Proceed”.

Step 9: Enter the fine amount and proceed with the process of payment (Payment Mode – Credit Card/Debit Card/Paytm Wallet/Net Banking/Paytm UPI).

Method 4

Through official website of traffic police

  • Go to official website of traffic police of your state
  • Go to the services section and select e challan option click on it.
  • A new window will appear. Enter the vehicle number or Challan number
  • Now click on search details
  • Your challan related information will appear
  • Click on pay and make payment through credit debit Card

You can pay your Challan without having to go to the police station in UP at the official website E-Challan i.e traffic.uppolice.gov.in.

Step 1: In order to pay your Challan online all you have to do is to visit the UP traffic police official website: traffic.uppolice.gov.in.

Step 2: When the webpage is open you have to fill the asked details on the page.

Step 3: Once you have entered your details you will be directed to the payment procedure.
