On Monday, Serena Williams qualified for the quarter-finals of the US Open with a three-set win over Maria Sakkari. The match took place between the tournament’s third set, Williams, and 15th seed, Sakkari at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows. It took her 2 hours 28 minutes to qualify with the scores being, 6-3, 6-7 and 6-3. Serena Williams is an American tennis player and has won 13 Grand Slam singles titles. She is aiming for the 24th Slam that would make her stand alongside Margaret Court for having the most women’s Grand Slam singles titles. Her last Grand Slam win was three years back at the 2017 Australian Open when she was already pregnant with her daughter. For scoring a place in the semi-finals, the 38-year-old would play Tsvetana Pironkova or Alize Cornet.
